My name is Ray Perini.
I have been a criminal attorney for my entire career and most of that time has been spent in Suffolk. I am running for Suffolk County District Attorney because Suffolk is ready for a change.
This primary is about two issues:
For the past twelve years, the current DA has run unopposed across all party lines, including both the Democratic and a Republican lines. This process – known as “cross endorsement” – lets the political leaders of both parties pick a candidate who gets to run as the candidate of multiple parties. Cross endorsements monopolize the ballot and prevent voters from having a real choice in elections.
I oppose cross endorsements and I am running to give voters the choice they deserve. You may not be a Republican, but you deserve the choice to vote for one.
The current DA has challenged Suffolk’s term limits law so he could run for a fourth term. This law was approved by voters in 1993 and has never been challenged until now. The DA’s case is currently being appealed and the status of the law is uncertain. If elected, I will honor the will of the people and stick to the 12 year term limit. That’s a promise.
An Independent Candidate
I do not have the backing of the party leaders. I collected my own signatures – 4,700 of them – with the help of voters like you to bring a legitimate choice to the ballot.
It’s time to shake up Suffolk County government. I need your vote in the primary on September 10 and again in the general election on November 5th. You can also get directly involved by donating to the campaign or offering your time.
